When I was at the supermarket today, I saw a great craft idea – a gingerbread man cookie kit. It came with 4 pre-made gingerbread men, icing, and candy pieces. I picked up a kit for my own children, and then I went back and got 3 more for my nieces and nephews.
We took them home and decorated the cookies and that got me thinking. How much more fun would this be if we did this using our own, homemade gingerbread man cookies? So I decided that we are going to go tomorrow and by the ingredients and give grandma a tin of homemade gingerbread cookies for Christmas. Time with family just does not happen as often as it used to anymore, and homemade gifts seem to be a thing of the past. I am looking forward to the look on mom’s face when she opens her gingerbread man gifts.

Another thing I have noticed are the funny phrases on gingerbread man t-shirts. I saw one recently that had a gingerbread man with a broken leg, which read “Oh Snap!” Adorable! You can’t help but smile at something like that. I have seen quite a few cute and clever gingerbread man gifts.
My favorite thing to do at Christmas is decorate. I love pulling out all of my dishes and placemats, and creating the atmosphere that puts everyone in the holiday spirit. One of the best gingerbread man gifts I have ever gotten was the cookie jar I got last year which I keep filled with ginger snaps for the kids. Gingerbread man cookie jars are a great gift because they appeal to people of any age.
